Baking Powder Biscuits (Tiffany)

2 cups flour
1 TBS. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup milk

Heat oven to 450°.  In a bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and salt.  Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center;  add milk.  Stir just until dough clings together.  On a lightly floured surface, knead dough gently. Roll and pat dough to 1/2 inch thickness.  Cut with a biscuit cutter (I've found a small cup works well).  Place on greased baking sheet.  Bake at 450° for 10 - 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Makes 6 - 7 2" diameter biscuits.
